Chinese language camps for children and teenagers in China (Beijing and Shanghai)
The summer and winter Chinese junior programs in China have been offered since 2008. They offer the perfect opportunity for young people to learn Chinese (Mandarin) as they experience traditional and modern Chinese culture. At the same time they will make new friends from all over the world. The Chinese language camps take place in the centre of each city (Beijing and Shanghai).
There are three options for Chinese language courses for children and teenagers in China:
1) Complete Chinese language camp in China with hotel or homestay accommodation
This Chinese language immersion option is available for teenagers aged 12 to 17 years old.
This is a wonderful opportunity to experience Chinese culture first-hand. The teens will go to the school on their own every day. The host families, who live about 30-40 minutes from the language school by public transport, will accompany them on the first day and explain in detail the route to get there. The teenagers will live, play, learn and use the Chinese language 24 hours a day in complete immersion. They will therefore develop greatly their interpersonal and linguistic skills.
2) Chinese language day camp in China (without accommodation)
Children and teenagers from 7 to 17 years old can participate in these junior Chinese programs in China.
These are programs specifically designed for young people who travel to China with their parents during the summer or winter. The international children and teenagers participate in morning activities and afternoon Mandarin lessons (9am to 4pm from Monday to Friday). And they spend the rest of the time (evenings and weekends) with their families.
3) Chinese course only for children and teenagers in Beijing and Shanghai (without accommodation and without activities)
With this option, children and teenagers (from 7 to 17 years old) only take Mandarin lessons, which take place in the afternoon (1pm to 4pm from Monday to Friday).
Staff and supervision during the Chinese language camps for juniors in China:
The staff is made up of dedicated employees and qualified teachers. They all have a university degree and work full-time. The majority of them have several years of experience. Their common goal is to ensure that young people have the most enjoyable and rewarding Chinese language immersion experience in China.
Chinese lessons for children and teens in Beijing and Shanghai, China
The Chinese lessons for kids and teenagers in China use a method that combines all aspects and skills of the language (grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, comprehension, reading, conversation and writing). These Mandarin lessons are interactive, which makes learning ver productive and at the same time more interesting. Before the first Chinese lesson, each student must take a test in order to assess their level. They will then be placed in a group that corresponds to their skills in the Chinese language.
There are workshops and cultural projects to complement Mandarin classes for children and teenagers. For example, they will play Chinese chess or mahjong, they will paint, prepare Chinese cuisine, make calligraphy, craft opera masks, etc. There are also sports activities (martial arts, badminton, ping-pong, football), trips and excursions (Great Wall, Forbidden City, Qibao Water Village, Science and Technology Museum…).
The kids and teens who participate come from a wide variety of countries around the world. They will therefore experience an international mix of cultures and a diverse atmosphere, which will encourage the development of language and interpersonal skills. It is possible to start the program every two weeks, during June, July and August for the summer camps, and during November, December and January for the winter camps. For complete programs (with accommodation), the arrival day should be a Sunday and the departure day should be a Saturday. The minimum duration is two weeks.
